Off Road

If you step off Dashashwamedh Ghat Road just a few feet, there is a portal to another world as different as the street of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
Walk down the Road every day for a month and you will never know it’s there. But once you discover it, and pass through it, it’s like coming home, as it is home for many.
There’s a gentle introduction, with little to inform of what lies ahead.
A shrine,
a school of music,
a work of art.
But just beyond, the world opens itself up to you.
A merchant,
a chef,
a maker of curd,
a sharpener of knives.
Turn any corner,
and the scene continues.
The coming and going,
the visiting,
and waiting.
Sustenance,
there is always that.
And family for those fortunate.
Of course, looking down on it all,
ancestors.
