A Morning Walk

A cock crowed shortly before 6:00. Surprisingly, the sun would not rise for another two hours. But when it did, it revealed an Obidos that invited exploration.

And soon we were out.

There are the churches of course. Aging gracefully to inform the traveler of the faith that once directed the lives of the locals.

The dwellings that house them.

The bakeries that feed them.

The bookstore that educates and entertains,

and the pharmacy that heals.

But climb above the main thoroughfare, above the side streets and alleys,

and you’ll find the Obidos that the nesting birds - the harrier, red kite, and wryneck know best.

It‘s from these heightened places that one can best appreciate the beauty of Obidos and the countryside that has its own history.
But as with all transcendent experiences, one must come down . . . and eat.
And so we descended, discovering along the way a delightful little restaurant

serving a most incredible salty, garlicky, lemony, baked cod. Prepared as only the Portuguese can do.

Love the artists of Obidos. I imagine they can ship???
The city is beautiful
Wonderful photos today. I hope you bought Pa one of those pastries.
